The basics
What Is the J-1 Student Non-Degree Program?
The J-1 is a U.S. exchange visitor visa. In the Student non-degree category, it lets international students come to the United States for a full-time program of study that doesn't lead to a U.S. degree, such as MIM's business certificate programs.
Only organizations designated by the U.S. Department of State can sponsor J-1 visitors. MIM is one of them: we issue your Form DS-2019, keep your record in SEVIS and support you for the whole program. Prefer the M-1 instead? Compare the J-1 and M-1.

- Are a university student or recent graduate
- Want a business semester, or a longer program, in New York
- Want to add international experience to your degree and resume
